About the COY Award
The “Citizen of the Year” award recognizes Moorestown residents who, through varied community service activities, have significantly contributed to the quality of life of both our community and its citizens. The honorees are chosen, after careful consideration, from nominations made by Moorestown citizens.
The Service Club Council is comprised of the Rotary and Lions Clubs. The Council has a three-fold purpose: to foster understanding and cooperation among members; to act as a clearinghouse of ideas between clubs; and to recommend and implement projects for the betterment of our community. The first meeting of the combined clubs was held May 1953.
Net proceeds from the award dinners are used to support local organizations. In the past years funds have been allocated to: Moorestown High School students for “Good Citizen” awards, and to the Moorestown Community House.
